Give up rail fare subsidy देश में आम लोगो को मिलने बाली सब्सिडी को अब ख़तम करने के लिए सरकार ने  रसोई गैस की सब्सिडी को छोड़ने से शुरुआत तो पहले ही कर दी थी लेकिन इस के बाद रेलवे विभाग अपने यात्रियों को भी सब्सिडी को छोड़ने के लिए कह रहा है। भारतीय रेल यात्रियों को ” अपनी इच्छा से टिकट पर सब्सिडी छोड़ने का एक समान विकल्प देना चाहता है।” यह योजना अगले महीने से शुरू हो जाएगी. इस योजना को युद्ध स्तर पर चलने के लिए रेलवे  ने कमर कस ली है| 

रेलवे ने अपनी डिटेल में सब्सिडी के दो स्लैब तैयार किया है:
1. 50 प्रतिशत
2. 100 प्रतिशत

Highlights

1. Railways will offer two ‘slabs’ of subsidy surrender — 50% and 100 % of the subsidy amount.
2. Currently, the state-run transporter bears 43% of the cost of all rail fares.
3. Railways incurs a loss of about Rs 30,000 crore every year in subsidising passenger fares.

रेलवे ने यात्रयों को जागरूक करने के लिए रेलवे ने टिकटों पर सब्सिडी के बारे में लिखना सुरु कर दिया है| रेलवे अभी हमारी आपकी यात्रा का 43 फीसदी खर्चा खुद उठाती है. जिसके चलते उसे सालाना 30 हजार करोड़  का घाटा उठाना पड़ता है| जबकि उपनगरीय और लघु-ढलान ट्रेनों की यात्रा से यातायात का 52% ट्रैफिक होता है, जबकि कुल यात्री आय में उनका हिस्सा लगभग 6-7% था। जमशेद ने कहा था कि यह खंड 34,000 करोड़ रुपए की वार्षिक सब्सिडी के करीब 60 प्रतिशत के लिए जिम्मेदार है।

1. The ‘Give-It-Up’ option will be available for tickets booked online or bought from counters.

2. To make passengers aware of the subsidy burden on the fare, the railways had started printing – “Indian Railways recovers only 57% of cost of travel on an average” – on computerised tickets although the current accounting system does not give the exact cost.

3. Railways has introduced dynamic fares in elite trains such as Rajdhani and Shatabdi.

4. Cost of 3AC ticket from Delhi to Mumbai on a superfast train like Golden Temple Express, for a passenger who wants to give up subsidy will be Rs 2,750 instead of the Rs 1,570.

5. The cost in 2AC by the same train will be around Rs 3,990 instead of Rs 2,275.
